Santiam Memorial Hospital Birth Center provides each mother with their own private room, equipped with a water jet tub and a birthing bed with a window overlooking the Cascades. Mothers are welcome to bring and play their own music during labor, and parents are able to stay in the same room throughout the labor, delivery, and recovery process. Free Wi-fi is provided, and birth partners are welcome to stay overnight in the room with the mother and baby. Santiam Memorial's birth center encourages skin-to-skin contact and honors birth plans to the best of their ability. They also provide the option for a "gentle Cesarean section", where mothers can walk around and begin eating a few hours after surgery. After delivery, mothers are provided with a back or foot massage by the nurses, upon request. Free gifts and meals are provided to the mother and her family.
