The Bay Area Hospital Birthing Center provides secure and private rooms for expecting mothers to deliver. When an OB/GYN or other healthcare provider notifies Bay Area's Birthing Center of a prospective patient, the patient is immediately contacted by the Management of Maternity Services (MOMS) team. The MOMS team's role is to provide free patient education, emotional support, connection to resources, and reference materials. Bay Area Hospital can also provide ultrasounds and fetal testing, when recommended by a physician or midwife. The birthing center aims to accommodate the birth plans of expecting mothers. All nursing staff receives continuing education on fetal monitoring, labor support, and lactation support. Mothers experience labor, delivery, and recovery all in the same room. Many options are available as pain relief for mothers in labor, including Jacuzzi bathtubs/hydrotherapy, birthing balls, and IV pain medications. Lactation specialists are available after birth, and skin-to-skin contact is encouraged.
